H2S Safety in Oilfields

Introduction

The H2S Safety in Oilfields Course is designed to train workers, supervisors, and safety professionals in the oil and gas industry to recognize, prevent, and respond to hydrogen sulfide (H2S) hazards, in compliance with OSHA and ANSI/ASSP Z390.1 standards. This program covers H2S properties, detection methods, and emergency response protocols. Through theoretical instruction, hands-on training, and scenario-based exercises, participants will develop the skills to work safely in H2S-prone environments, protect lives, and ensure regulatory compliance.

Course Objectives

• Understand OSHA and ANSI/ASSP Z390.1 standards for H2S safety in oilfield operations.
• Identify H2S hazards and their health effects in oilfield environments.
• Learn to use H2S detection and monitoring equipment effectively.
• Develop skills to implement control measures, such as ventilation and respiratory protection.
• Explore the selection and use of personal protective equipment (PPE) for H2S exposure.

Assessment

A 30-minute multiple-choice question (MCQ) exam and a practical H2S response drill evaluation.

Certification

H2S Safety in Oilfields Certificate issued by ACSGP upon successful completion.
