HAZWOPER

Introduction

The Hazardous Waste Operations and Emergency Response (HAZWOPER) Course trains workers, supervisors, and safety professionals in the safe handling of hazardous materials and emergency response, in compliance with OSHA 29 CFR 1910.120 and EPA regulations. This program covers hazmat operations, decontamination, and emergency procedures. Through theoretical instruction, hands-on training, and scenario-based exercises, participants will gain the expertise to manage hazardous waste, protect workers, and ensure regulatory compliance.

Course Objectives

• Understand OSHA and EPA HAZWOPER standards for hazardous waste operations.
• Identify hazardous materials and their risks in workplace and cleanup scenarios.
• Learn safe handling, storage, and disposal procedures for hazardous substances.
• Develop skills to perform decontamination and personal protective equipment (PPE) use.
• Explore emergency response procedures for hazardous material incidents.
• Gain knowledge of site control and hazard communication in HAZWOPER operations.
• Understand the importance of training and drills for HAZWOPER teams.
• Learn to document HAZWOPER activities and incidents for compliance.

Assessment

A 45-minute multiple-choice question (MCQ) exam and a practical HAZWOPER response simulation exercise.

Certification

ACSGP 40-Hour HAZWOPER Certificate upon successful completion.
