Process Safety Management Course

Introduction

The Process Safety Management Course is designed to equip process industry professionals, supervisors, and safety officers with the knowledge to implement and manage process safety systems, in compliance with OSHA 29 CFR 1910.119. This program covers hazard analysis, risk management, and emergency planning for chemical and high-hazard processes. Through theoretical instruction, case studies, and scenario-based exercises, participants will gain the expertise to prevent process incidents, ensure worker safety, and maintain regulatory compliance.

Course Objectives

• Understand OSHA’s Process Safety Management (PSM) standard and its elements.
• Identify process hazards using techniques like HAZOP and PHA.
• Learn to develop and implement process safety information and operating procedures.
• Develop skills to conduct process hazard analyses and manage mechanical integrity.
• Explore emergency planning and response for process incidents.
• Gain knowledge of management of change (MOC) and incident investigation processes.
• Understand the role of audits, training, and compliance in PSM systems.
• Learn to document PSM activities and ensure continual improvement.

Assessment

A 45-minute multiple-choice question (MCQ) exam and a practical process hazard analysis (PHA) exercise.

Certification

Process Safety Management Certificate issued by ACSGP upon successful completion.
