Introduction

The Respiratory Protection Course is designed to train workers, supervisors, and safety professionals in the selection, use, and maintenance of respiratory protection equipment, in compliance with OSHA 29 CFR 1910.134. This program covers respiratory hazards, fit testing, and program administration. Through theoretical instruction, hands-on demonstrations, and practical exercises, participants will develop the skills to protect against airborne contaminants, ensure proper respirator use, and maintain regulatory compliance.

Course Objectives

  • Understand OSHA’s respiratory protection standard and its workplace requirements.
  • Identify respiratory hazards, such as dusts, vapors, and oxygen-deficient atmospheres.
  • Learn to select appropriate respirators based on hazard assessments.
  • Develop skills to perform fit testing and user seal checks on respirators.
  • Explore maintenance, cleaning, and storage procedures for respiratory equipment.
  • Gain knowledge of medical evaluation and training requirements for respirator users.
  • Understand program administration, including written plans and recordkeeping.
  • Learn to monitor respiratory protection compliance and respond to exposure incidents.

Assessment

A 30-minute multiple-choice question (MCQ) exam and a practical respirator fit testing and maintenance exercise.

Respiratory Protection Certificate issued by ACSGP upon successful completion.
